Why would I use a personal shopper?
Lookstyle’s team of professional stylists will help you to create your ultimate wardrobe. Many people “shop blindly” and purchase pieces that they like at the time but don’t really fit into their wardrobe. When you shop with Lookstyle we will always have a plan of the items you need and set a budget to keep you from over spending. Lookstyle can actually save you money in the long run by making sure you purchase the RIGHT pieces.
Closet Makeover
How do I know if this is what I need?
In our experience, a Closet Makeover and Edit is the FIRST step to fashion freedom and educating you on how to maintain your wardrobe. You can’t continue to build on a foundation that is not solid.
Do I have to get rid of all suggested edits?
We will never pressure you to “get rid of” or “throw away” any items that you don’t want to! The edit process is intended to help purge the pieces that are constantly hindering your getting dressed routine because they don’t fit, are out of style, or simply have been worn to death. By taking pieces out of your closet, you can really see what you own that you want to wear and “shop” in your closet more efficiently.
Why do I need to edit?
Editing helps to see where the holes in your wardrobe are. You may have 10 pairs of jeans (none of which you like) but if we didn’t edit them out of your wardrobe, you would never buy a new pair because you already have so many. You would continue to struggle with what jeans to wear!
And what happens to items I do get rid of?
There are several venues for the items you decide not to keep. We can donate them, re-sell to consignment shops, store for future generations, or pack up for friends & family who may get more use out of them. If there are pieces you choose to re-sell, Lookstyle uses several professional sources to help you get the most money out of your items.
How often do I need to do this?
A closet edit should be done on a quarterly or bi-annual basis. Most people do not have enough room to house all seasons in one closet so to make your daily routine the easiest it can be, Lookstyle will “flip” your closet from season to season to keep items that you will not be wearing out of the major real estate in your closet.
Wardrobe Styling
How do I know if I need a stylist?
Styling is just one of a list of many service that Lookstyle can offer you. One of the best ways to decide is to ask yourself a few of the following questions:
- Do I wish I received more compliments for what I’m wearing?
- Am I always buying the same things?
- Have I been wearing the same clothes for years?
- Do I have a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear?
- Do I feel silly when I walk into a restaurant or party and am not dressed appropriately?
- Am I ready to have more self confidence?
If the answer to any of these is “yes” then a Lookstyle stylist can change your life. We can change the way you feel about how you look and teach you to find the best styles for you!
Is it better to have two stylists or one?
With two stylists, not only will the amount of time be shortened, but the experience tends to be more helpful. As one stylist is assisting you personally the other stylist is pulling the next outfit, photographing for your look book, or organizing your closet. Pricing remains the same, but you really do get more for your money.
I am a bit hesitant to hire a stylist, do you have a class or seminar to introduce your concept and/or styling suggestion for general public?
Yes. We host seminars 2 x a year to discuss fall/spring trends. Please check our website often to see if one is coming near you. If you would like to host a private seminar, minimum of 20 people must attend. Small fee applies to attend a seminar.
I can’t spend a lot on clothes, is this the best use of my resources?
In our experience, most people tend to spend a lot of their money on the WRONG things. At Lookstyle we help you create a clear shopping plan so you don’t buy something you don’t need or something just because it’s on sale. Styling from within your wardrobe also limits the need to buy more things. Instead we can show you how to make your current pieces work for you. Typically, clients end up spending less money on new clothes because they forgot about some of the great pieces they already had!
How often do I need a stylist?
On average, 4-5 times a year. This typically is during the different seasons (2 closet flips (fall/spring), vacation planning/packing, weight loss/gain, pregnancy, moving, etc. You will be surprised at how much you will want to use our services.

Men’s Styling
I’m not that into clothes, but I want to be cool. How can you “style” me without making me look like I’m trying too hard?
This is something we hear frequently from our male clientele. At Lookstyle, we never force trends on you but we listen to how you want to look and then make it happen: within your budget and comfort zone. There are times when we may ask you try something new, but it is always ultimately your decision on which pieces you choose.
I don’t have a lot of time or patience for shopping. How can I utilize Lookstyle without going to stores?
We work with a lot of men who just can’t stand shopping. But, luckily, we love it. Let your Lookstyle consultant do the dirty work for you and sift through the endless options. You can simply fill out a STAT sheet with your style and sizing information and set up a short initial consultation to get a better sense of your needs. Then, let us take care of the rest. We bring the pieces to YOU and show you how they will work into your current wardrobe. You try them on and keep what you like. We return what you don’t. Easy.
Travel
I don’t live in the Chicago area, can you still help me?
Of course! Lookstyle is always willing to travel to you to give you the full experience. Please contact us for availability.
How can I help defray some of the travel costs to get Lookstyle to my home when I live out of state?
Lookstyle offers a great referral program that rewards clients with free services when they refer a friend! If we have more than one client in the same city, they both split the travel fees! And, if you were the one to refer them, you will receive a FREE hour of services (when booking 4 or more).
If I live out if town, can you still style me without coming to my hometown?
Yes. Although we have found that experiencing the closet and meeting our clients in person benefits you in the long run, we can have online video chats to make the styling sessions more personal. We can ship you boxes of “styled looks” and send images of how to wear them.

How do you charge?
All Lookstyle services are available to you on an hourly basis. We are extremely professional and efficient and work to complete all projects on schedule. Proposals are available on request and we can work within your budget to maximize your experience. Contact us to learn more.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, Lookstyle accepts all major credit cards as well as PayPal and personal checks.
Miscellaneous Q&A
Do you receive any incentives to shop at specific stores?
No. What is great about hiring a stylist is that there is no pressure to spend on high ticket items. At Lookstyle, we are NOT concerned with commission – only HOW YOU LOOK AND FEEL!
Do you also do hair and makeup?
We can do minimal hair and makeup for our clients. However, for events or important outings, we have a list of professionals who will come to you and make you feel fabulous.
How far in advance should I book my appointment?
Lookstyle works to accommodate all of our clients in the most timely manner possible. A minimum of 24 hour notice is necessary to set up an appointment (upon availability). Your Lookstyle consultant will work with you individually to set up a schedule. Contact us to schedule your appointment.
What can I do to prepare for my service?
Your Lookstyle experience is a full scale service and no prep work is required. However, in order to maximize your service you can:
- Have all laundry done and dry cleaning picked up so that your entire wardrobe is available
- Create a list of upcoming events or day to day functions that you would like taken into consideration. (For example: a wedding next weekend, a vacation in March, Date Night, Wear to Work, etc.)
- Choose any items in your wardrobe that you struggle with so we can make sure they are styled into your lookbook.
When can I schedule a service?
Lookstyle schedules appointments Monday through Friday during hours that are convenient for you. Weekend options are available upon request. Contact us to schedule your service.
When I become a Lookstyle client, what are the perks?
Lookstyle clients receive top notch customer service and 24 hour access to their own style consultant. Clients will be signed up for our newsletter and Style Notes to stay up to date on fashion and beauty trends as well as money saving opportunities. As Personal Stylists, we have our finger on the pulse of the fashion world and that knowledge will be passed on to you. Clients will also be privy to complimentary purchase suggestions from a variety of retailers and online sources.
How can I get started?

I don’t want people to know that I am being styled by someone else, I want them to think I did this myself. Is that possible?
Of course! At Lookstyle your privacy is our priority and we will never release your information or use your name without your consent. We work with you on a one-on-one basis to educate you on trends and show you the tricks of the trade to make your look effortless. Your friends will just notice how great you look and you can take all of the credit!
